My all time favourite rehearsal during the rehearsal period is the day where the orchestra/band are in for the first time.
There is so much excitement from the whole company as you don’t know what to expect. It’s my favourite part of the rehearsal process because it gets me buzzing during the week before we start the run of the show.
In amateur theatre, this is the first opportunity the musicians have had to play the whole show together, whilst also hearing the cast and seeing what they have to offer during the show.
The music in Legally Blonde – The Musical, is extremely complex in places which makes it more interesting when hearing the orchestra that is accompanying you for the first time. They work incredibly hard to provide the excellent quality of music that is produced for the show which is appreciated in different ways by each member of the cast.
The rehearsal started at just after 2pm. The orchestra had already been in rehearsing all morning so I was buzzing to hear the first notes of the overture.
It. Was. So. Cool.
There was lots of laughter and lots of confusion during the rehearsal, but that is all part of the fun that is band call.
I can’t wait for our next rehearsal with the orchestra and I am buzzing to get into the theatre to perform to an audience.
Legally Blonde – The Musical runs from the 15th to the 19th March at the Regal Theatre in Redruth.
